Tottenham have agreed a deal with Wigan to sign Wilson Palacios in a £12m deal.

The midfielder has passed a medical after agreeing terms and the transfer will be completed once the Honduras international receives a work permit.

Palacios, 24, has been at Wigan since January 2008 after signing from Deportivo Olimpia on a three-and-a-half year deal for £1m.

He has agreed a five-and-a-half year contract at White Hart Lane after deciding to leave the JJB Stadium.

It is understood that Palacios had reservations about moving to London from north-west England, where he was settled.

But Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said he was confident the deal would go through and has now got his man.
Surprising seeing as it was thought United had strong interest.

I am actually disappointed because I think he is a great player and has been a huge part of Wigan's recent success along with Valencia. I was hoping to see both of them at Old Trafford, but I doubt we will get either now. Palacios is a great addition to the Spurs team, especially seeing as I don't rate Zokora at all.

Not being arrogant, but surely we cooled our interest...

There is a reason you don't rate Zikora and now if that is the only thing we ever agree on, it's because he is completely toss, not good enough for a Premier team at all.

On the cooling interest, I really don't know because it comes down to maybe him thinking he wouldn't get games with your wide range of midfield players.

Brilliant bit of business by Wigan, making a £11m profit on a player they bought 12 months ago. As good as he is (or appears to be, I don't rate him as highly as others) he's only been in the Premiership for a year. He hasn't proven himself over a long period. So I think it's a bit of a gamble paying £12m for him.

Oh, and has anyone told the other 18 clubs, that it's not just Man City and Spurs who are allowed to by players in January? ha ha.

It doesn't look like we are going to buy anyone either but if Rafa is going by the standpoint of not potentialy hurting morale by bringing in new then I'm okay with it.

I would hardly regard Tosic as a signing, players bought for the future go under the radar until they start to do something.

Are you thinking of Ljajic? Tosic has been bought for now. The only reason he hasn't played is that he needs a rest. You will see him become a first team regular sooner rather than later.
