Why do you support the sports team you support most?
Is it location or is there some other reason?
For example, for me I support Crystal Palace Football Club (someone has to)
However, it's not purely for geographical reasons. I loved the name Wrexham (a North Wales club) and when I was 7 my father took me to the football to watch Wrexham play Palace.
Well Palace won and he made it clear that if I supported Wrexham I'd go to the footie once a year, and if it was Palace I'd come more often.
Does anyone else have a decent tale about why they support their team?
Or anything really........

Widnes Vikings RLFC
I live in Warrington, which is right next to wines, my dad and his best frind support them, they are the "cup kings" (they used to win everything, first ever world club champions.
Liverpool
Because of geographical reasons, and I hate
Man united. Also, my uncle got me into them at a yong age, and he is a die hard reds fan. Also, Liverpool have arguably the greatest fan reception in the premier league. Nothing matches up to the atmosphere at anfield.

And when there is no hope,
"I'll smoke some crack, I'll shoot some dope!"
When theres no enemies,
"I sit and stare at my T.V.
and in my ignorance,
I'll be a slave and sycophant!"
Probably cause they were the "team to support" over here at the time. I started supporting them the year after Blackburn won the title though, and at the time they didn't really look like they'd be topping the league or anything, so I wasn't actually glory hunting that much.
I've stuck with them intently since.
I support my home town team in everything as well obviously, well to a degree anyways. There's some sports I just don't care about.

My only reasoning for supporting the teams I do is because of players that are on the team itself. Some of the teams I support are local, but others aren't.
Baseball
Detroit Tigers
Boston Red Sox
Atlanta Braves
Football
New England Patriots
Carolina Panthers
Hockey
Detroit Red Wings
Basketball
Pistons, I guess. I don't really care much about basketball though.
jayman, I don't blame you for not following the lions =>
Well, I watched every game that was televised this season (which weren't many in the 2nd half of the season), but I don't consider them "MY sports team". Until they start making some smart moves, they'll stay that way.
