Manchester City has reportedly offered a world record €100 million ($132 million) for AC Milan playmaker Kaka.
A report on the website of Mediaset, the television company controlled by AC Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi, said a City delegation traveled to Italy on Tuesday to meet with Milan officials and make the bid.
The report said the Premier League club has also offered to pay €15 million ($19 million) to Kaka per season.
Berlusconi said Tuesday he was "hopeful" that Kaka would remain with the Italian club.
AC Milan declined to comment Wednesday. Man City has also not commented.
The Abu Dhabi United Group, led by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bought Man City last September in a deal believed to be worth about £200 million (then $370 million).
The takeover brought a British-record transfer deal of £32.5 million (then €40 million; $58.5 million) for Brazil forward Robinho, and the new owners have suggested they want to challenge Manchester United and Chelsea as the most successful club in Britain.
City, which has already signed England left back Wayne Bridge this month, is considered the only Premier League club with lots of money to spend during the January transfer window.
City, coached by Mark Hughes, is currently 15th in the 20-team league.

If true wow. It will be a huge signing for City, as would be for any team. I would like to see him go there, a Kaka vs. Ronaldo match up sounds gooood.

If the transfer offer, and fee are even true, I've read that Milan instantly rejected the bid and it would take a ridiculously improved offer for them to consider parting with Kaka.
Plus I don't see why Kaka would want to move to Man City, so don't be expecting this to be happening anytime fast.

Re: City Make Record Bid For Kaka
Well he's won the Champions Leageu with Milan already, been there ages, team is ageing and he likely would take up a fresh challenge. It's entirely possible Milan will not even make the Champions League next season
Whether he'd be willing to miss a season of it by going to Manchester City though I don't know.
He's friends already with a couple of their players, and if he has assurances that similar quality players will be there by next season, I could see it happening
I wouldnt be suprised if it happens but from I can gather Kaka is not a player driven by money, I think he's 27 now so the question is weather he is willing to sacrifice a year or two of his carear to try and help build City or will he stay(or go to Madrid where he has also been linked) where he his almost certainly guarenteed more success.
Its all well and good making bids like this thinking the player has to accept it, However, what they seemingly dont realise is being four points off the bottom of the league is going to override any amount of money offered. He is already getting enough money so he should be more focused on moving to a team in a posiition to win something. If he leaves at all that is which i dont think he will.

Kaka has already expressed an interest in teaming up with Robinho in the past, apparently their good friends. He has done the usual deny it story but at the end of the day 500k a week yeah that's 25 1/2 million a year then add his signing on fee and his advertising deals. He will NOT reject that sort of money.
AC Milan star Kaka poured cold water on a world record 100 million-pound transfer bid from Manchester City on Wednesday, saying he wants to stay with the Italian club as long as possible.
But the Brazil international said his future is up to Milan. Kaka told Mediaset, the television company controlled by Milan president and Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, that he wished to stay.
"I have already refused important offers," the 26-year-old midfielder said on Mediaset's Web site. "My objective is to become, in the future, the captain of (Milan). I know there is a hierarchy and (Paolo) Maldini and (Massimo) Ambrosini are before me, but after ..."
Kaka, whose comments were also posted on Milan's Web site, said in a televised Mediaset interview that he was "very happy" and wants "to grow old with Milan."
Well this isn't happening. Maybe once Milan is incapable of winning anything due to old age and creaky bones he will move.
