We all know the rumour mill is a fun thing to behold, and apparently today stories filtering out the papers are linking David O'Leary (Remember Him?) To the Newcastle united job. Oh dear, I hope not!

Also, Arsene Wenger has accused the Dynamo Kiev players of trying to 'destroy' young starlet Theo Walcott during last nights Champions League draw.

Another injury blow for West Ham United, and their new manager Gianfranco Zola, Dean Ashton is out for a month with a bad ankle, poor fella, they need to get some players who know how to stay fit.

And finally, an interesting fact, Aston Villa's Stylian Petrov is such a big star in Bulgaria that his wedding was even shown on TV. What some people will do for attention eh?

Credit to English Papers and BBC's rumour mill column. Just thought i'd share the interesting bits and see the debaes rise over David O'Leary, what an awful choice if that happens!!

They could do worse than O'Leary! Show's how desperate he must be to get "back in" since his main gripe at both his previous jobs was lack of funding, and there's no way Ashley is giving him a big pot when he's looking to sell.

Newcastle has so much potential though (well, if it got a mega bucks buyer) that it's hard for people not to look at it now and think it could be a shortcut to getting a big wedge and/or into a big club.

I don't know what Newcastle and West Ham do to their players.....but physioroom always seems to list them both as having about 10 players out injured at any given time. Something rotten at both clubs

Maybe it's the food Tyler? Haha, and I don't know how Newcastle are still in debt by 100 milion pounds. I mean, they sell 50,000 season tickets, etc. they should be fine, something dodgy was going on there.

Because a complete 'tard bought them without doing due dilligence. A couple of my colleagues know Ashley. He's (apparently) a total nob, who got extremely lucky with his sports empire due to the work done by his subordinates. The fact that he bought something at that price without doing dilligence shows him to be an utter moron.

As an example, would any of you buy a house with a huge chunk of your available cash without doing a valuation on it?

Lulz nao. But there were Geordie idiots on the TV the other day saying they want a man who would come in and say they love the club and make good young signings.

I thought to myself, what idiots. What has Ashley done then? Come in and blow up the stadium!? >.<

In purely football terms the only thing he got spectacularly wrong (imo) was bringing Keegan back and ensuring that if he ever had a run in with his manager, the crowd would despise him. And how could he not fall out with a manager that has thrown his toys out of the pram every time he has been refused untold amounts of cash for signings? Ashley gave the people what they wanted and that was his biggest mistake (footballing wise).

Ashley football model for NUFC seems sound. They can't compete with the big clubs over the big name signings (when you hear their fans in the summer saying they reckon they're signing Van Nistelrooy and Carrick and others, you have to laugh) so they are trying to set themselves up to buy young talent to develop so that, hopefully they're successful, but if the players do well they'll get huge money in for them. It's a fair plan for what they had to spend.

As for Wise, time will tell if he did a good job. If Guttierez, Xisco, Collocini all do well and bring in money or some success then he'll have justified his place, even though appointing him (a guy with no history of being strongly connected in the European and African markets in which they want to work, nor in youth development) seemed a strange one.

I heard Ashley was a Spurs fan. I have to laugh if that's true.

As for O'Leary, it's just an ego thing. He was on Sky Sports' Goals on Sunday program a few weeks ago, and he was asked about his time at Aston Villa. He said he saw a great deal of potential there, and he knew Doug Ellis was on his way out - so he thought he'd be the beneficiary of a very wealthy chairman, who'd back him in the transfer market to get the players he wanted. After 3 seasons he knew this wasn't going to be the case so he left. It just seems to be that this is the exact same scenario, BUT this time he knows he's going to get a new owner. We all know what O’Leary can do when he has a chairman who’ll buy anyone he wants – e.g. Leeds in the Champions League.
