De Canio gone, Zidane in ?

Queens Park Rangers have parted company with manager Luigi De Canio by mutual consent.

The Italian was appointed as John Gregory's successor last October after a poor start to the season by QPR.

He pulled the club away from the relegation zone but the team could not mount a push for the play-offs and only finished 14th in the Championship.

The ambitious R's have now confirmed De Canio's exit just four days after the loss to West Brom on the final day of the season.

A QPR statement said: "The club would like to place on the record their thanks to Luigi for his contribution to QPR and wish him all the best for a successful future.

"Mr De Canio also wanted to express his gratitude for the opportunity to manage Queens Park Rangers and also for the fantastic experience he had during his time in England."

De Canio had spent his entire career coaching in his homeland before moving to Loftus Road, enjoying spells in charge at Siena, Genoa, Napoli and Reggina.

QPR bosses are now expected to move quickly to bring in a replacement ahead of a busy summer of transfer activity.

Former France midfielder Zindedine Zidane has been touted as a possible candidate for the job.

Im a huge fan of QPR an dfollow them aswell as Arsenal. Ive been a fan for the past 10 years and this is a shock to me but i kinda new it was going to happen he doent speak english for one and he likes to traine hard. I dont expect Zidane to be the new manager but id love it to be one of the following, Tony Adams, Stuart Pearce, Martin Jol , and Ian Dowie, QPR are going to be big enct season and i expect them to do alot in the summer.
