Newcastle have confirmed that Kevin Keegan will make a dramatic return to manage the club.
The 56-year-old former Manchester City boss managed the Magpies from 1992 to 1997 and will return to St James' Park as Sam Allardyce's successor.
Gerard Houllier and Didier Deschamps were strongly linked with the position in the last two days but the club unexpectedly turned to Keegan.

Don't see it working out too well for him. One last throw of the dice in management for him I guess, and one last throw of the dice for Newcastle to get back to their "glory" days under Keegan.
Now once he can't get them above mid-table mediocrity, all they need is to appoint Shearer as manager and then finally someone can come in and build them up the hard way, without these two names being thrown about as being able to do it better.
Though I'm sure Newcastle fans could find someone else who could do better, if Keegan and Shearer both fail also.

Oh dear.... living in the past once again. Keegan won nothing with them 10 years ago, so what’s changed since then to make him a better manager?? For a successful business man Mike Ashley really is a bit of an idiot. Letting his heart rule his head once again. They should have gone for Dechamps.
*BREAKING NEWS* Phantom hates the title *BREAKING NEWS*
I think Mike Ashley has been spending too much tim with the Toon Army, theres only three men the Geordie fans would have accepted as manager and they are Keegan, Shearer and Bobby Robson.
Perhaps the fans need to take their black and whie tinted glasses off and stop spending so much tome in the past.

Oh well, 42% of their supporters in their local paper wanted this, so they can't say their Chairman hasn't given them what they want, albeit my personal preference is for a Chairman that makes his own decisions and doesn't just seem to pander to his fans.
Maybe since football (although it is a business) is a more emotive issue than most, and maybe the Keegan that we saw so poorly managing England and seeming so tired with football at Manchester City will be recharged by being back at Newcastle? We'll see!
