Joe Calzaghe's super-fight with Bernard Hopkins looks set to go ahead in April, with Las Vegas the likely venue. Calzaghe's promoter Frank Warren said: "The deal's done and will be confirmed with the venue and date next week."
The undisputed world super-middleweight champion said: "The talks with Hopkins' representatives are almost over, and I've been told it's on 12 April.
"The venue is not set in stone but it does look like the fight will be in Las Vegas," he told the South Wales Argus.
This is going to be awesome. Calzaghe will go out there with a huge following, and hopefully shut Hopkins up for good. I can see this being Joe's last fight, so why not go out on top beating Hopkins? I seriously can't wait for this fight. Bring it on!
Oh it wont! Ha ha, but if Joe goes out there and gives 110% and loses then I don't think there'll be anyone who complains. It's the fight Joe's always wanted, he needs to see how good he actually is.
He's running a risk here though.. If he pounds Hopkins some will say The Executioner is old and past his prime (even though Hopkins has been as good as ever in recent years) but if he loses... Wow.. they'll say he never beat anyone. It's too bad. I think he is a great fighter. All he can do is pound Hopkins though.. that would possibly get him over with the casual fans.

Re: Calzaghe-Hopkins is on!
I disagree that Calzaghe is taking any sort of risk, I mean c'mon Hopkins is old, but so is Joe. What are they, something like 42 and 37? Joe has nowhere to go after Hopkins now, he won't want to fight much longer, he's had 10 years plus as World Champion and now he want's his big pay day.
Sure if he had much of a future himself after this fight then yes, he'd be risking a lot, but I don't think he is now.
