Manchester United are going to Fifa in an attempt to secure the signing of Carlos Tevez from West Ham United.
The Argentina international is currently in Manchester as he waits to undergo a medical with the Premier League champions.
West Ham have prevented the tests taking place after talks between the two clubs failed to bring about a resolution to the impasse.
The Hammers insist no offer has been made for Tevez, although The Red Devils have expressed their optimism that a deal can be arranged.
The problem centres on the striker's contractual situation, with West Ham seemingly holding his playing registration and his agent Kia Joorabchian holding the economic rights.
Only last week, Fifa confirmed it would be prepared to intervene in the matter, if asked to by any of the parties involved.
The Red Devils have now taken the issue in to their own hands and have called on world football's governing body to wade into the complex affair.
Chief executive David Gill has confirmed the club have requested that Fifa's Disputes Resolution Chamber arbitrate on the case.

Re: Tevez row to go to FIFA
What an almighty mess this whole thing has been.
Hopefully they've put some rules in place to stop it ever happening again. Tevez must be as fucked off (although much wealthier) than all of us are at reading this crap for over a year now.

I bet he will just be glad when he knows if he's staying, where he's going or where he isn't going, after all this I don't think he will care too much if he stays at West Ham as long as it is over with.

Re: Tevez row to go to FIFA
Of course, and I'm sure you Sheff United haters out there will be chuffed with this, if it is proven now that Joorabchian does still hold "3rd Party" ownership of Tevez and that West Ham's defence to the league (that they had severed those connections formally in January and that the player was now theres) turns out that it was a crock of crap......well, I'm sure we could see the resurfacing of this whole row again!!

Well I didn't mind Sheff U, that is until they started with this court shit, just pulling stuff out of their arses to try and get themselves back into the Premiership when they knew it wasn't going to happen and then when they were refused... they appealed again.
