Notts County will find out next week whether they can keep on-loan Sheffield United midfielder Ian Ross until the end of the season.
The 20-year-old joined the Magpies on a six-month loan in July.
"Ian is seeing Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock on Monday so we will know more then," Notts County manager Steve Thompson told his club's website.
"He would love to stay if he is not part of their plans this season and I would certainly welcome that too."
