Pellegrini in trouble? (+a look at Madrid's managers this decade)
I know there is a La Liga thread but I think this is worthy of it's own.
Last night Real Madrid (with a very strong lineup featuring the likes of Raul, Benzema, Van Der Vaart and Diarra) lost 4-0 to second division team Alcorcon. After recent defeats to Sevilla in La Liga and Milan in the Champions League, both without Cristiano Ronaldo, it seems like Pellegrini's job could be in serious danger.
It's not like sacking managers is something new to Madrid. Here is a list of men who have managed Real Madrid this decade:
Vicente Del Bosque (1999-2003)
Carlos Quieroz (2003-2004)
José Antonio Camacho (2004)
Mariano García Remón (2004)
Vanderlei Luxemburgo (2004-2005)
Juan Ramón López Caro (2005-2006)
Fabio Capello (2006-2007)
Bernd Schuster (2007-2008)
Juande Ramos (2008-2009)
Manuel Pellegrini (2009-)
I think you'll agree that is a shocking amount. They're currently averaging at more than a manager a year this decade, and unsurprisingly they've not been as successful as they could have been.
Thoughts on Pellegrini's position and the way the club is run?

The thing what makes it worse is that they didnt lose to a team in their second division but I team in League 2B. In Spain the leagues are La Liga then league 1 then league 2 then league2B, league 2B is split into four regional divisions of 20. So bsically the team Madrid lost to would proberly b in the confrence over here.

The expectations at Real Madrid are simply unrealistic. Anything less than the title every season is a failure. And even winning the title wasn't enough to save Capello. It doesn't help that the team is built more on star value than any sort of squad-building approach. I think its simply that the culture at the club at this point makes it pretty much impossible for any manager to be seen as a success, and I think that even if someone huge like Mourinho, Wenger, or even Ferguson had taken the job at some point, they would have met the same fate.
That King's Cup loss is brutal. The only possible upside to it is that there is a return leg, so there is still a slim chance they can move on in the competition.

I wasn't aware of that. That's a lot worse than I thought.
To say they lack patience is an understatement though.
Pellegrini's problem is that there was always going to be intense pressure after the amount of money they spent in the summer. There is always too much pressure at Madrid even in normal circumstances, as they have too high expectations (case in point: Del Bosque being sacked after winning the league because he couldn't win the CL a 2nd successive year) but with the HUGE spending this summer, the pressure is ridiculous.
No matter how much you spend, you are going to struggle if you are trying to pip a team like Barcelona to the title. You can't really buy quality like they have. Like the last Galactico era, Madrid are too reliant on certain players, or in this case, just one.

Yeah, exactly what I was thinking. The expectations are insane for this club. The owners expect them to win the league, cups within the nation, and the champions league. Even if you have the best players on the field, doing all of those things is still very difficult. I couldn't believe Capello got sacked when I saw it, was terrible.
