Iraq vs. South Africa was boring. South Africa should have won it, but their own player got in the way and denied that opportunity. I can't see South Africa making much of an impact at next years competition.
Spain vs. New Zealand was like watching men against boys. Torres et al found it so easy. Spain will ease through is group. He only thing that might hamper their chances of winning the competition is the fact that they won't have any real tests until the semi final stage. Costing through 3 matches with relative ease might not help them when it he likes of Brazil and Italy.
I'm watching Brazil vs. Egypt at the moment. So far it's been an entertaining first 25mins.
One thing that has already annoyed me, and will do throughout next years world cup those damn horns going off through the match!!!
Watched only the 2nd half of the Brazil game and I must say that Egypt deserved more. They played well and pushed Brazil most of the time. They definetely did not deserve to lose.
I also missed the first 30 minutes of the Italy game. Italy played with an extra man after Clark got sent off (missed the sending off). Italy looked slow and old and I still dont understand why Lippi always calls the same guys. Gattuso, Zambrotta, Gilardino, Toni should not be playing for the National Team anymore imo. Italy has so many great young kids and yet they stick with these dinosaurs. I guess Italy is waiting for all these young guys to become old before given a chance to play.
Cassano and Pazzini should both be playing. Up front for Sampdoria last year they were unstoppable. Cassano is by far the best Italian player today. Miccoli also had a great season for Palermo and yet he is home watching...
Brighi and D'Agostino, both had an amazing season last year and both did not get called up. The midfield would look so much better with them playing.
In defense Motta should be playing instead of Zambrotta. He played all right today, but he clearly lost a step or two...or three.
Di Natale wasnt called up either, but I think he is injured. He is fast and his finishing is amazing. There's no way Lippi left him home on purpose.
Finally Del Piero...he shouldn't start anymore, but he should be on the team. Coming off the bench should be his role and a fresh Del Piero on the clutch is deadly.
Italy won, but it doesnt say much. The US is not a World Class Team and they played with 10 men. Oh well, at least they won.

Egypt is protesting the penalty at the end. They won't get anywhere because Fifa and co. suck off the Brazilians more than anyone.. but it was a great game. I had no idea Egypt could put so much pressure on Brazil's defense. Brazil looked god awful on that end but could score at will as you'd expect.

Or because it was a certain handball lol.

lol the funny thing is none of those guys you mentioned are even that old.
Well, Gattuso, Zambrotta and Luca Toni are all over 30. A player who is over 30 and played most of his career in Serie A is an old player just cause the game is so much tougher in Italy.
Gilardino is only 26, but he's been playing for the National Team for a long time now and even tho he has not done well, Lippi keeps putting him in. Why not give another guy a chance? I don't think he can do worse than Gilardino has.
Italy desperately needs Totti back, unless Lippi forgets about the beef he has with Cassano and finally decides to put him in (Rumour has it they dont like each other).
