ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise all matches of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup, June 14-28, from four cities in South Africa, host nation for next summer’s 2010 FIFA World Cup. All 16 matches will also be available live and for replay on ESPN360.com.
ESPN2 will air 12 matches. ESPN will televise four, including two group stage matches – United States vs. 2006 FIFA World Cup champion Italy (June 15, 2:25 p.m. ET), and Italy vs. Brazil (June 21, 2:25 p.m.). ESPN will also air both semifinals — Wednesday, June 24 at 2:25 p.m. in Bloemfontein, and Thursday, June 25, at 2:25 p.m. in Johannesburg.
Spain absolutely murdered New Zealand, haha. I didn't see Iraq/South Africa, so I can't comment on the pitch there (from pics on Google it looks like a nice venue though) but the one Spain and New Zealand played on wasn't anything remarkable. The atmosphere was a bit annoying with those damn horns.
Can someone tell me why the Confederations Cup is important? Since it's in South Africa, I'm figuring it has some World Cup implications for the winner?

South Africa/Iraq was fucking boring. Spain got their expected result over New Zealand, but I think they'll put more past the Iraqis.
The tournament is important because its the winners of all the continents coming together, so essentially if you win it, you're the best in the World. Also, it's a chance for South Africa to get some practice in for next year.

So, The game is being shown on ESPN/ESPNHD at 2:30 pm, EST. Im hoping they dont do the ole switch-a-roo and move the game to ESPN2 at the last minute like they did with the WCQ last week. Ill be pissed if this game isnt on my DVR when I get home.
Im not sure if 2:30 is the live time, or if its being shown delayed, probably the later.
Im going to predict 3-1 Italy. Although Ill be praying for a victory.

Have mecy on us, World. All we have going for us is Jozy Altidore, Landon Donovan, and Tim Howard. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Is any of this going to be on ESPN?
Landon needs to step the fuck up. Im tired of hearing how hes the best player in the US (which is bullshit, btw) but I never see him do anything outside of MLS goals.
