Troubled sports broadcaster Setanta has failed to pay the latest chunk of the £30m it owes the English Premier League, and will now lose the rights.
The League had threatened to sell the rights to the 46 live matches Setanta has for the 2009/2010 season if the broadcaster failed to make the payment.
It will now put the rights out to auction, with offers needed by Monday.
A potential rescue deal, led by a US investor who had proposed buying 51% of Setanta, fell through.

So you think its ok for fans of lower league clubs to stay in and watch the football on the TV rather than go to the gamme?
It works fine as it is, 12:45 kick off, go to the match, come back, 5:30 kick off then 2 games on the Sunday and maybe one on the Monday.
I only mentioned the premier league, never the lower leagues.

w00t, I have fox sports, they split games with Setanta, so now if those games go to ESPN or some other channel, I will be able to see most of the games, instead of 4.
Mikk what I was talking about was the people will stay in and watch Arsenal vs Liverpool instead of going to Port Vale vs Rochdale.
They could Sky+ it and watch it later To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

In this day and age with Sky plus would it be easier? No it wouldn't.
However, was the rules set in this day and age? No it wasn't.
When the rule was set it was the best for the game but now with Sky+ they could still go to game and then watch the 3pm game that they recorded when they get back.
