It's interesting that even in this new era of football, with so many clubs backed by unbelievably rich billionaire owners and astronomical fees for players bandied about in the press seemingly every day, Zidane's £47m record transfer fee is yet to be broken. Could Kaka be about to do that?

I personally am leaning towards yes, I'm not putting any money down yet because nothing is confirmed even though radio and news stations would disagree.
But, even in this day and age with new millionaires/billionaires moving into small clubs, not tiny, but small and attempting to make them into big clubs. The main example of that is Chelsea who before they were taken over by Amramovich were no bigger than Everton, now, they are former Premier League champions, fa cup, league cup winners and UEFA Champions League finalists, before the 'big boss' that would have been nothing more than an ambitious dream that was never likely to happen. There are so many millionaire/billionaire owners out there so a mere £6m rise of the previous transfer record really isn't a lot in the circumstances is it?

Indeed and it's pretty amazing that it has, yet ironically it is the club that set that record to begin with by signing Zidane that is about to break it. Sooner or later, judging by how long this record has taken to be broken, I vote for later, we will move into the 100's and yes it nearly did move into the 100's earlier this year with again ironically this player at name, Kaka, as pointed out, it never did materialise.
I think that it will be Man City who break the record in future though.

Probably. They've already broke the British record with Robinho, although admittedly there have been a few transfers of around £30m which that one just beat. They obviously have the resources, its just a question of whether they could persuade somebody who would command such a fee to join the club. Evidently not as Kaka turned them down. If they do well in the next couple of years, then yeah I think they'll break the record.

Well again one of the biggest Premier League tranfers will be Tevez, whether it is simply out, or out and then in to another Premier League club, or simply in permanantly to United, again it will be the likes of £25-28m which still falls short. It's a pretty large sum but not a record.

Well Barry had doubt in his mind that we were keeping Alonso, but I feel Tevez, if he doesn't end up staying which is actually my prediction, will be at Anflield next season.

Chelsea have made an astonishing £73.5million bid for AC Milan superstar Kaka, according to Sky Sports News sources.
The brilliant Brazilian, widely regarded as one of the finest players on the planet, was targeted by Manchester City in the winter transfer window but elected to remain with the Serie A giants.
Kaka went on record as recently as Tuesday to insist that he was happy with the Rossoneri and had no plans to move on this summer.
But further speculation emerged that Real Madrid were planning a swoop following Florentino Perez's appointment as president, with the returning supremo eager to make another 'Galactico' signing.
And Sky Sports News sources now understand that Chelsea have tabled a bid which trumps the reported offer of £56million from Santiago Bernabeu.
Former AC Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti was installed as the new Blues manager on Monday and he could now be set to link up again with the talented playmaker.
Chelsea's £73.5million bid is reported to be backed up by an offer of £10million-a-year in wages after tax for Kaka in a bid to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
Wow... O.O
