Sven-Goran Eriksson insists he can take Notts County from League Two to the Premier League after signing a five-year deal as director of football.
The former England manager spelt out the ambitious plan, which comes after the club was taken over by a Middle-Eastern consortium last week.
"It is the biggest football challenge of my life to take Notts County to the Premier League," he said.
"I could have gone elsewhere and earned more but I'm here for the challenge."
Eriksson, 61, will work alongside current manager Ian McParland with the aim of getting promoted from League Two "as soon as possible".
"I always wanted to come back to the Premier League because it is the best League in the world," said the Swede.
"I have chosen a little bit more of a difficult way to do it. It will take some years, but fater speaking to the chairman Peter Trembling and the investors, I am sure we will do it.

Wow thats just wow i can't believe Notts can afford him
The Middle-Eastern consortium who've invested in them have bagfulls of cash. I watched a piece about them the other week. They didn't want to just invest straight into the Premiership, they wanted to build a club up from the lower leagues and get to the Premiership that way.
Little Notts County fact that you may or may not know.
Juventus liked the Notts Forrest shirt when they were looking for a home shirt and ordered some to be sent over to Italy, there was a mix up in the order and they sent over Notts County shirts instead and thats why Juve play in the black and white stripes.
------
Anyway, I knew money was involved somewhere.

I Knew that lol although my Dad used to tell me when i was younger it was ST.Mirren tops they where after
In a league like League 2 a bit of financial backing I can see them being promoted, it's when they get too the championship mark I reckon they will start to struggle.
I give them 3 years to get to the championship although Darren Ferguson done it in 2.

Fulham did it a few years ago, it took them about 4/5 seasons to go from the old 3rd division to the Premiership.
It'd be a great success story if it happened. County having the 'tag line' of the oldest football club also adds some juice to the story. I'll keep an eye on them over the coming years, see how well they do.

Joe Kinnear claims Newcastle owner Mike Ashley offered him a two-year deal to return as manager, which he rejected as he continues to recover from surgery.
Kinnear, 62, has been sidelined since a triple heart bypass operation in February and in his absence Newcastle were relegated from the Premier League.
"I told him I'm not going back to football until at least another three months," Kinnear told BBC Radio 5 live.
"If Newcastle feel they need to get another manager, then so be it."
As Kinnear recuperated, former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer took over as manager until the end of the season but he could not save the club from dropping into the Championship.
Hmm well I guess it's an okay appointment for the Championship.
