Speed will hang up his boots and move into management. This job could have come at just the right time for him.

When I was thinking of replacements for Martinez, I'd forgotten about Speed. It'd be an interesting choice. He's been a great player and servant to Welsh football, hopefully he can do the same in management.

Yeah and he has been learning under Blackwell for a while, I see him as a player that will fail the first attempt at managment though for some reason, Martinez has done a very good job and I can't see him being able to live up to it.

West Brom have confirmed that Celtic have made an approach for their manager Tony Mowbray.

Baggies chairman Jeremy Peace announced the news on the club's website but insisted they would fight to keep him.

He said: "I have received a call from Celtic chief executive Peter Lawell requesting permission to speak to Tony.

"I made it absolutely clear the approach was not welcome because we have an ongoing project at Albion in which Tony is an integral part."

Speculation has been rife that Celtic wanted to bring their former defender back to the club as Gordon Strachan's replacement, but the Baggies had previously denied there had been any contact.

I actually don't know who West Brom would replace him with to be honest because I mean they are a very good side that you can almost guarantee promotion with but they need the extra edge for when they actiually get up...

Well the question would obviously be, is Coppell ready get back into the game so soon, but apparently he is in the running for the Tranmere job so it would appear so.

Here’s a few names I think will be in the frame for the West Brom job should Tony Mobray move to Celtic:

Paul Ince – Did very well at lower league level. Maybe he needs to make the step up to the premiership with a Championship side that he has built himself.

Alan Curbishley - has been out of the game for a while, and would be a good fit for WBA in my opinion

Ian Dowie – The lure of being number one again could be something he couldn’t turn down. Also more job security than at Newcastle.

Gus Poyet – Has stated his desire to become a manager after being an assistant. Would be a risk though.

Paul Jewell – has a lot of experience, and knows what it takes to gain promotion to the Premiership, and build a side on a shoestring budget.

Well my dad as a West Brom fan says that he wants to do an actual swap, they can have Mowbray if WBA hire Gordon Strachan which would be a very good appointment indeed because I mean he has managed smaller clubs than WBA before although technically they were bigger at the time. All he really needs to do is keep the flow going and they will be back in the Premier League next season anyway.

I did actually think of Strachan. I'm just not sure his ego would let him go to a Championship club after Celtic. Although I think he'd do a fine job at the Hawthorns.

Well he wants Strachan and as I said that would be a very good appointment but right now the sad reality is that I see them hiring Darren Ferguson, okay he's done a good job at the Posh but there is just the luming question of can he make the step up?
