Rangers have fined Kyle Lafferty for feigning injury in an incident that led to Aberdeen's Charlie Mulgrew being sent off on Saturday.

The forward, who has made a public apology, fell clutching his face after he and Mulgrew had gone head to head during Rangers' 2-1 victory at Ibrox.

"It was something I should not have done and I deeply regret what happened," he told Rangers' website.

"I will make a personal apology to Charlie Mulgrew."

Lafferty says that the Aberdeen defender, whose club is to lodge an appeal to the Scottish FA, should not have been sent off.

It has since been announced that it was Stuart Dougal last game as a top-flight referee as he has decided to retire a week early.

And Lafferty said: "I also want to apologise to the referee and his assistants."
I loled, it was fucking hilarious that the ref sent him off.

I blame the linesman he was standing right next to it, he then got Bougherra sent off saying that his tackle was made with intent when that wasn't either. Some shocking decisions and the ref is getting the slack because his assistant put him in the shit to be honest.

Rangers are quite right to fine him too walking away checking if he was bleeding was the biggest joke.

I was at the very opposite end of the ground so didn't see it properly at the time but did suspect it was a wee bit em... soft lol.

Since it was against Aberdeen though its fucking hilarious so get it up ye's ya sheep shaggin bastards

Haha I've only just watched that. Hilarious. Lafferty should be ashamed of himself but yeah I can't believe he got sent off. It was so obvious.
