Luis Figo has ended his illustrious career following Inter’s fourth consecutive Serie A title.
The 36-year-old Portuguese was persuaded to play for one more season by Inter boss Jose Mourinho following reports of a bust-up with former Nerazzurri boss Roberto Mancini.
The Special One does not usually make the wrong call, and his subtle persuation proved founded with Inter winning the title following Milan’s 2-1 defeat at Udinese on Saturday.
The 2001 Fifa World Player of the Year hangs his boots up following a 20-year career which includes Champions League glory with Real Madrid following his controversial move from Barcelona.
“This is the first time I am champion without playing,” Figo told A Bola.
“I will not play again at the highest level. And I will will most likely not accept any offer. Only if something special emerges and it is from outside Europe. But it is not likely.”
