An unnamed Championship club have moved to secure the services of Tottenham and Wales international full-back Chris Gunter, BBC Sport Wales understands.
The club are believed to want to buy him, although they are also keen on a season-long loan.
Gunter, 19, joined Spurs from Cardiff for about £3m in January 2008 but has made only three Premier League appearances this season.
He joined Nottingham Forest on loan in March and impressed at the City Ground.
<!-- E SF --> Newport-born Gunter said in April he had enjoyed the move and he did not rule out a return to the club.
"It's a fantastic club with brilliant people and it couldn't have gone any better," said Gunter, who went on to help Forest maintain their Championship status.
"I'm contracted to Spurs, but if they tell me to go for a season on loan then it's something to consider."
Maybe back to Forest or someone like Reading or Swansea maybe?

Harry Looking To Santa Cruz
Harry Redknapp is planning to beat Manchester City to the signature of Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz this summer.
Although Redknapp has not made contact with Blackburn about the Paraguay
striker, who is determined to quit Ewood Park, the Tottenham manager has put him on the top of his wanted list.
Redknapp is reluctant to discuss the club’s transfer dealings in public after a row with Sunderland chief Ricky Sbragia in January over Tottenham’s proposed deal for Kenwnye Jones.
Despite serious misgivings over Santa Cruz’s fitness — he has made just eight Barclays Premier League appearances this season — he remains one of Europe’s most sought after strikers.
Manchester City refused to meet Blackburn’s £20million valuation for the striker in January, but Rovers manager Sam Allardyce is prepared to sell him to Tottenham in a cash-plus-player exchange deal.
Allardyce is understood to be interested in striker Darren Bent as part of any proposed deal as he begins preparing for his first full season in charge at Ewood Park.
Roman Pavlyuchenko admits it has been ‘disturbing’ to find himself out of the Tottenham team and linked with a move after only nine months at the club.
Pavlyuchenko, a £13.8m signing from Spartak Moscow last August, has started only two Barclays Premier League games in the last three months.
But he said: ‘No-one is to blame for the situation except me.’
Well certainly looks like Harry is wanting to get rid of one or maybe two of the strikers he has just wonder which ones.
Gunter has already expressed an interest in staying with Forest, so I guess he'll go there on a perminent deal. He's a good player, and has proven that at international level, but he moved too soon to the Premiership, and to a team he was never going to get games for week in week out.
Yeah, the Diego deal is confirmed...just not officially announced obviously.
I cant imagine why Valencia would want to sell Villa/Silva. They have money now...so players checks arent bouncing anymore...and it looks like they can finalyl finish their new stadium. And they are in position to make the CL.

Last I heard their financial situation was terrible. I doubt things could change that quickly. I heard they could go bankrupt if they don't sell some of their assets, although that may have been sensationalist journalism.
