Well there are always rumours running wild about how much money clubs will have to spend when the transfer window creaks open.
So far there have been mixed rumours about how much Rafa will have, first of all it was that he would have to sell players but this morning papers have reported that Rafa will be handed £64m to spend. I am one for not beleiving paper talk but that has gotten my hopes up.

Ferguson will have a lot to spend, and even more if Ronaldo goes (which I don't believe he will) but I don't see a spending spree from us. In fact Ferguson has already denied that there will be one. I can see us bringing in one or two players but I don't think we'll spend a huge amount. Maybe £30m.

You probably know by now that we are not big spenders but saying that there are two positions that need to be addressed and i think Wenger will have to do so in the Summer. Centre Back and Defensive Mid. I think wecould cover them in about £30 Million, especially after we negoiated Arshavin down to £12 Million. I'd be massivly surprised to see Wenger spend any more than £30 odd in total this summer regardless of how much he actually has.

Well with around £64m, maybe we could be in contention for David Villa after all?
As for Arsenal, Wenger will most likely gather up some bargains to cover those position. I don't mean that as a bad thing but I really can't see Wenger spending big again yet.

Villa wants to see out his contract at Valencia if they can afford to keep him. Even if they do sell him he'll stay in Spain. I really don't see him playing anywhere else.

I don't see why it wouldn't to be honest.
Yes, you are right in saying he doesn't want to leave Valencia and Valencia don't want to sell him. The fact is though that they can want to keep him all they like, but if a big offer came in from us for example, they would accept it because they desperately need the money.
Even Tom said that if he did come to the Premier League that Liverpool would be the most likely team because of the Spanish influence.

Yeah, if he did leave Spain then Liverpool would be one of the most likely options. I'm just saying I doubt he'll leave La Liga if another team from Spain come in and match any potential outside offers, which I think is highly likely considering who he is. I'm not disagreeing that it's likely he'll need to be sold. Guys like Silva and Villa can claim loyalty as much as they like, but at the end of the day it's up to the club who, like you said, desperately need to raise funds.
I actually have a feeling Silva will end up at Liverpool next season which disappoints me. I'd say they have a far greater chance of getting Silva rather than Villa.
Also, I don't see why you brought Tom into it like his opinion matters. >_>
