Manchester United could appeal against Darren Fletcher's suspension from the Champions League final, according to Uefa general secretary David Taylor.
Fletcher was harshly sent off in the semi-final, but Taylor told United manager Sir Alex Ferguson they could challenge the decision.
"The likelihood is we'd refer it to our disciplinary body.
"They'd see if there were circumstances to justify a departure from procedure," Taylor told BBC World Service.
Fletcher was dismissed towards the end of the semi-final second-leg victory over Arsenal for a challenge on Cesc Fabregas that resulted in a penalty.
However, replays made it clear that the United player had in fact made contact with the ball.
Ferguson said the decision was "a tragedy", while Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted the call was "very harsh", but initially Uefa said there was no right of appeal unless the referee made an error in identifying the player.
If Fletcher has hope then surely Abidal has too...

Either both should get rescinded or neither, I agree there.
However I just think UEFA shouldn't be such dicks about it. Lets look at it logically. First of all, it is ridiculous that a terrible decision should cost a player their dream of playing in a final, and secondly, surely you want to see the best players playing in the final? You want a team to be able to pick from as many players as possible rather than having first choice full backs ruled out.
Rescind them both plz.

If they were going to rescind one and let one stand then it would obviously be Abidal's to be rescinded first but both really should be.
However, this doesn't include Alves, he will still be out, he only picked up a yellow card which was no one else fault than his own. So they will still be picking a second choice fullback on one side.

I'm still absolutely in love with your sig, Tom. Please, never change it.
Anyway, rescind them both, or neither.
I still can't see sigs for some reason To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Yeah I think sometimes logic should be used, they say referees should use their common sense at times but how are they meant to do that when the footballing bodies they are supposed to get their rules off of can't do the same.
It's a shame about Alves though you hate to see any players missing finals due to bookings especially ones that could very well add to the spectacle.

Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher will miss the Champions League final after Uefa rejected an appeal against his red card in the semi-final.
The 25-year-old was controversially sent off in the second leg of United's 4-1 aggregate win against Arsenal.
Italian referee Roberto Rosetti sent Fletcher off for what he saw as a foul on Cesc Fabregas and awarded a penalty.
Barcelona's Eric Abidal's and Dani Alves will also miss the final after Uefa turned down their appeals.
Abidal was sent off for what referee Tom Henning Ovrebo saw as a trip on Nicolas Anelka in the semi-final against Chelsea, while Alves picked up a yellow card for a challenge on Ashley Cole, ruling him out of the final.
Pathetic tbh.

Firstly why would you let refereeing mistakes cost players their dream of playing in Champions League finals by not allowing appeals?
Secondly, surely wherever possible you want the best players to be playing in the showpiece final, so you would want to allow red cards to be overturned.
its BS.
