Didier Drogba scored seven minutes from time to earn Chelsea a place in the FA Cup final at the expense of Arsenal.

Arsenal took the lead when Theo Walcott turned inside Ashley Cole in the box and his shot deflected past Petr Cech.

But Chelsea levelled 15 minutes later when Florent Malouda fired past keeper Lukasz Fabianski at his near post.

And a keenly-fought match looked to be heading to extra-time until Frank Lampard set up Drogba to clip past the stranded Fabianski from 18 yards.

Djibril Cisse's first-half header eased Sunderland's relegation fears and kept Hull very much in the dogfight.

Diego Tristan popped up five minutes from full-time to grab only his second goal in a West Ham shirt and snatch a barely deserved point at Aston Villa.

Stoke took a huge step towards securing their Premier League status as they deservedly overcame Blackburn thanks to Liam Lawrence's second-half goal.

Substitute Kanu's faint touch from a Nadir Belhadj corner gave Portsmouth a vital home win over Bolton.

Middlesbrough's Premier League survival bid suffered a major blow as they were held to a goalless draw by Fulham.
Well I would say Stoke are safe now.

Yeah and both Boro and Hull look in serious trouble.

We have to beat Everton first.

Won't be easy by any means.

Everton saw off Manchester United in a dramatic penalty shoot-out to set up an FA Cup final clash with Chelsea.

After a largely disappointing semi-final, Phil Jagielka scored the decisive kick after Dimitar Berbatov and Rio Ferdinand's efforts were saved.

United were unlucky not to get a normal time penalty after Danny Welbeck was clattered by Jagielka in the box.

Everton livened up after a slow start with Tim Cahill's shot well saved and James Vaughan denied by Nemanja Vidic.

Newcastle's hopes of staying in the Premier League took a huge blow after being easily pushed aside by Tottenham.

Seconds after a Kevin Nolan effort, Spurs broke away and Darren Bent curled in a first-half opener after Steve Harper had parried away his first shot.

Tom Huddlestone impressed with long-range shots, while a Jonathan Woodgate header was tipped over by Harper.

Newcastle improved in the second half and substitute Obafemi Martins volleyed agonisingly over in the dying minutes.

Robinho's first Manchester City goal of 2009 helped to see off bottom-side West Brom in a thrilling match.

The Brazilian volleyed home Stephen Ireland's cross to open the scoring and Nedum Onuoha's header made it 2-0 after it appeared Scott Carson was fouled.

Chris Brunt replied when he finished off a neat move and, after the break, he levelled with a whipped free-kick.

But Elano quickly restored City's lead from the spot after he was fouled and a late Daniel Sturridge goal sealed it.
Quintuple go bye bye.

Re: FA Cup and Premier League Round-up: 18/4 & 19/4

Hmmm I need a new usertitle.

Credit to Everton but we should have had a pen. Apart from that it was a fairly even game, so I wasn't too disappointed it went the distance, although I have to say Ferguson seriously underrated Everton. I know we have a lot of games coming up in two competitions more important than this one, but he didn't have to play SUCH a weakened team imo. He should at least have had Ronaldo on the bench. Rooney was apparently injured though.

Also, why have Rio and Vidic taking pens when Tevez and Scholes are on the pitch? Didn't make sense really.

Berbo is an idiot >_>

Oh well, two very important competitions left to focus on.

Re: FA Cup and Premier League Round-up: 18/4 & 19/4

The best penalty was from young Vaughan in my opinion, it was a very good take from an inexperienced player with such pressure.
