Former Everton defender David Unsworth has announced his retirement from professional football and is hoping to move into coaching.
Huddersfield released the ex-England player, 35, last week after he had made just five appearances this season.
"I have a burning aspiration to coach and to manage. My decision to finish now is something I haven't taken lightly," he told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"It's something I nearly did at the start of last season."
Unsworth added: "Now I feel is the time to finish that side of my career and go on and start the next chapter of what hopefully is a new career in the coaching and management side."
He has made a total of 509 career appearances scoring 46 goals, which for a defender is a pretty good comeback. He represented England and although it was only the once, would you rather be able to tell your grandchildren you played for them once or not at all?
He has had a career to be proud of.

Great player back in the day, but I saw him play for Huddersfield against us earlier this season, and our right-winger literally walked past him. Very overweight and very slow.

Players do harm their rep in later years by going on longer than they should. Some player play on into their 40's but those are players who can, if you can't perform anymore then stay off the pitch.
However I haven't seen him play since playing for Wigan so it's all good.

Having a defender as a good penalty taker is still a skill that a lot of defenders don't have, some defenders haven't got confidence in shooting at all.
