Arsenal defender William Gallas could face a lengthy spell out of action after he damaged medial knee ligaments in the Gunners' 1-1 draw at Villarreal.
The Frenchman limped off after colliding with Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi late in the first half.
"We have to assess it on Wednesday but the first signs don't look too good," said Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.
Goalkeeper Manuel Almunia is also likely to miss the return leg next week after he came off with an ankle injury.
Wenger did not know exactly how long the injury will keep his first-choice goalkeeper out for but estimated that the Spaniard would miss a fortnight.
Well he isn't your captain anymore but he is still a rock in defence, I'm sure this couldn't have come at a worse time.

Fabianski has a tough run. Good performances in the next six games could keep him in the team even with Almunia fit again.
Wigan (A)
Villareal (H)
Chelsea (H)
Liverpool (A)
Middlesboro (H)
Porto/Man United
I'm confident enough wth Djourou playing Centre Back he has been playing a fair bit this season and has improved enough to fill in for more than one or two games.

Unfortunately for Fabianski I don't think it will be enough to keep Almunia out not matter what he does. If it was just a run in the middle of the season he may keep his place but after an off season place I think Almunia will be back in goal.
