Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has proposed a change to the points system in the Premier League in a bid to encourage attacking football.
With the financial price of relegation from the top flight so high, managers have been known to adopt defensive tactics with a view to holding out for a draw, rather than risk being exposed and suffering defeat.
This campaign, in the 30 rounds of games so far, there has been an average of 2.45 goals per game - down from 2.64 last term.
And Wenger has suggested that teams should be rewarded for a forward-thinking ethos by offering extra points for their winning margin in an encounter.
The Frenchman told the club's official magazine: "I would like to see a scheme brought in where you get more points for scoring more goals.
Wenger needs to stfu. It's just because he got beat by Hull and Stoke.

He's been pitching this for years. It's a bad idea. Just because Arsenal arn't good enough to challenge doesn't mean the whole rules should be changed to suit them.

Well they're last two signings have increased their attack further, Nasri and Arshavin are both attacking mids. Then he has an advancing and maturing Walcott in the works.

Look at the Amsterdam tournament and the Emiarates Cup. They are by far and away the two best pre-season tournamants to watch because you will see proper football. The object of football afterall, is to score, not sit back and hope the other team dont score. I personally like the idea but i dont know how well it would work over 38 games, especially considering the top teams usually hit four or five goals a couple of times each season. On the other hand, it would make for a great title race and relegation battle if more than three points were up for grabs.
