Everton teenager Dan Gosling struck a dramatic winner two minutes from the end of extra-time to settle the FA Cup fourth round replay against Liverpool.
Liverpool, who lost Steven Gerrard to injury early on and saw Lucas Leiva sent off in the second half, looked to be surviving for a penalty shoot-out.
But Gosling, 19 on Monday, showed remarkable composure to curl home a clever finish past Pepe Reina.
Leon Osman hit the post for Everton, who meet Aston Villa in the next round.
Aston Villa had to work hard to knock Championship side Doncaster out of the FA Cup to make the fifth round.
Midfielder Steve Sidwell scored the opener on 15 minutes after Neil Sullivan had saved from Craig Gardner.
John Carew doubled the lead after his long-range shot was deflected in, but Rovers roared back with Jason Price poking in just before the interval.
Brad Guzan saved Brian Stock's 30-yarder, but Nathan Delfouneso broke through to nod in Nicky Shorey's cross.
Villa, now undefeated in 10 games, will next play Everton in the fifth round scheduled for Sunday, 15 February.
Benni McCarthy struck with a header late in extra-time as Blackburn saw off Sunderland to seal a fifth-round FA Cup tie against Coventry.
Zurab Khizanishvili hit the post for Rovers before David Healy put Sunderland ahead with a tidy finish.
Black Cats keeper Craig Gordon made several top saves but could not stop Aaron Mokoena's 25-yard strike.
Roque Santa Cruz failed to convert two headed chances but McCarthy made no mistake from Carlos Villaneuva's cross.
It was a game in which both teams had plenty of chances to win the tie before the South African striker struck from inside the six-yard box.
Derby County fought back from two goals down to beat local rivals Nottingham Forest and set up an FA Cup fifth round encounter with Manchester United.
Forest got off to a stunning start as Chris Cohen lashed in a left-foot shot and Nathan Tyson scored from the spot after Stephen Bywater brought him down.
But Rob Hulse headed home Gary Teale's cross and Paul Green nodded in another Teale centre to level it for Derby.
They won it when ex-Forest star Kris Commons struck with a 20-yard drive.
The stirring comeback gave Rams boss Nigel Clough the perfect return to the City Ground, where he represented Forest for so long as a player.
I always said I would rather be out of the cup to concentrate on the league and I stand by that, the only issue is who knocked us out.
Let Everton enjoy it, it's the first time they've beaten us for 3 years.

I was glad Everton won, but yes I know you said all along that you don't really care about the FA cup, and I stand by the opinion that its a terrible attitude to have. I love the FA cup.
Everton vs Villa should be a great tie.
We go to Derby having already lost there this season.

Damn Benni McCarthy, would of been a good run if we'd of gotten past Blackburn.
Good to see Gordon back and has come through the game fine.
