Reading midfielder Stephen Hunt has agreed a new contract to stay at the Madejski Stadium until 2012.
The Republic of Ireland international was strongly linked with a move away from the Championship club during the transfer window.
He had a £5million release clause in his contract and was linked with a switch to Premier League duo Tottenham and Wigan.
However, the Royals received no firm bids for the 27-year-old and Hunt has now agreed to add an extra 12 months to his contract.
Hunt, who joined the club from Brentford in 2005, should sign the deal in the next few days and had no qualms in pledging his future to Steve Coppell's side.
Not huge news seeing as it is only a new contract, but I see this as weird tbh, with a few significantly bigger clubs interested in him I don't see why he would sign an extention. I mean sure, Reading will probably gain promotion anyway but at the top in the Championship it is so close, so what if they stay down and don't get promotion, then what?
I kinda think that playing with him brother could be a big factor in him wanting to stay to be honest, because they link up so well on the pitch plus they are living so close together now, not one in England one in Scotland.
... but wouldn't Premiership football be more important?
