Greece captain Angelos Basinas has joined Portsmouth on an 18-month deal.

Tony Adams has been looking to bolster his midfield options since the departure of Lassana Diarra and has successfully brought in Basinas ahead of the transfer deadline.

The 33-year-old, who has made almost 100 appearances at international level, arrives from AEK Athens.

He will add some defensive steel to Pompey's midfield and executive chairman Peter Storrie is delighted to have secured his services.
I'd say this is a great signing for Portsmouth personally.

Yeah that is a great signing. I've seen a lot of Basinas and he is a very consistent player. The sort of player who could get them out of trouble.
