Portsmouth have signed striker Theofanis Gekas on loan from Bayer Leverkusen until the end of the season.

The 28-year-old Greece striker's switch - which is view to a permanent deal - is subject to international clearance.

Pompey boss Tony Adams believes the striker - a previous top-scorer in the Bundesliga - will be an asset to his squad.

Adams told the club's official website: "His goalscoring record is fantastic and he's always looking to score goals.
Well someone needs to fill the void of Defoe.

I haven't seen him play at all but it says he has a good scoring record.

2001-2004 Kallithea 46 goals in 99 games.
2005-2007 Panathinaikos 23 goals in 41 games.
2006-2007 VFL Bochum 20 gaols in 32 games.
2007-Present Bayer Leverkusen 13 goals in 37 games.
