Sky Sports News sources understand Tal Ben Haim could be on his way to Sunderland before the close of the transfer window.
The Israeli international finds himself out of favour at Manchester City and is currently engaged in discussions at the Stadium of Light.
Ben Haim only arrived at Eastlands in the summer when brought to the club by City boss Mark Hughes in a £5million deal from Chelsea.
Sunderland chief Ricky Sbragia is in the market for defensive reinforcements having sanctioned Pascal Chimbonda's return to Tottenham after the Frenchman's less than glorious spell in the North East.
There has been conjecture as to whether Sunderland will take the player on loan or bring him in on a permanent basis, in a deal thought to be worth in the region of £4million.
Sunderland have until 5pm on Monday to conclude any incoming transfers.
This works out well for all parties, City get rid of player they're not using, Sunderland gain a not brilliant but good central defender that they need, Ben Haim himself gets first team football.

You see them a lot more than I do the chances are very high of you seeing any glitz that you have had this season, I myself haven't okay, I shall put Ireland to the side as I did say he is the most improved player in the English football, the rest I have seen nothing from.

Didn't you argue with me when I said Kompany has been bad?

Like you said you havent seen them much so its pretty hard to comment on something you havent seen isnt it?
Back to the subject, Ben Hiam has been one of the worst central defenders I have ever seen in a City shirt(even worse than Dunne's current form) and has not fitted in at all, he looks nervous every time he gets the ball and makes far too many mistakes.
