West Ham midfielder Julien Faubert has joined Real Madrid on loan for the rest of the season.

The Hammers confirmed on Friday evening that Faubert, who moved to Upton Park from Bordeaux in July 2007 for £6million, had been given permission to speak to the Spanish giants over a possible move.

The 25-year-old passed a medical with Real on Saturday morning and will be officially presented on Sunday.

A statement on Real's official website read: "Real Madrid and West Ham United have agreed to a deal that will see Julien Faubert play for the Spanish club through to the end of the current season."

Faubert endured a frustrating start to his Upton Park career as he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon shortly after signing which kept him on the sidelines for six months.

He has been unable to force his way into Gianfranco Zola's plans in recent weeks and spoke to the Hammers boss about a possible move away from the club.
Well firstly, if he can't force his way into the West Ham side... then why are Real in for him?

However I guess this is a few k off the wages for West Ham, but hardly equaling the the 9m they just spent on Savio.
