Mido scored a late penalty on his Wigan debut to further dent Liverpool's Premier League title ambitions.
The Egypt striker struck the ball past Pepe Reina after Lucas Leiva had clumsily brought down Jason Koumas.
Yossi Benayoun had brilliantly put Liverpool ahead from a tight angle after collecting Javier Mascherano's pass and rounding Mike Pollitt.
Fernando Torres headed against the post for Liverpool, while Hugo Rodallega struck the Reds crossbar late on.
Salomon Kalou scored twice as a below-par Chelsea beat Middlesbrough and moved up to second in the table.
Kalou volleyed in his first on the hour after David Wheater had failed to properly clear a Frank Lampard corner.
His second came from the same source with Lampard's corner finding the Ivorian unmarked in the box to head in.
Middlesbrough offered little at the opposite end and they have now gone 11 games without a win and remain in the bottom three.
Debutant Craig Bellamy scored against his former club as Manchester City swept aside Newcastle at Eastlands.
City took the lead on 17 minutes when Shaun Wright-Phillips fired past Steve Harper from 10 yards, courtesy of two sublime touches from Robinho.
Bellamy doubled the lead on 77 minutes when his neat shot on the turn from the edge of the box left Harper stranded.
But Newcastle hit back on 80 minutes when David Edgar robbed Wayne Bridge to square for Andy Carroll to score.
Robin van Persie's stunning injury-time strike gave Arsenal a point they barely deserved at Everton.
Van Persie's brilliant left-foot volley rescued Arsenal - but not after another resilient Everton performance delivered a dent to their lingering title hopes.
Tim Cahill headed Everton in front with his 100th career goal from Leighton Baines' cross after 61 minutes.
And he almost doubled Everton's advantage before going off injured, but Van Persie had the final word.
Goals from Carlton Cole and David Di Michele helped West Ham crush a very disappointing Hull City at Upton Park.
The Tigers' debutant keeper Matt Duke palmed away Mark Noble's early penalty after Cole was felled by Sam Ricketts.
Duke was in stunning form, but after saving Cole's low shot, he had to watch Di Michele scoop in the rebound.
Daniel Cousin and Manucho had Hull's best chances, but West Ham were dominant and Cole scored at the back post after Duke kept out Di Michele.
Benni McCarthy snatched a late equaliser at Ewood Park as Blackburn remained unbeaten under former Bolton manager Sam Allardyce.
Bolton looked to be heading for their first win in five Premier League games when Matthew Taylor and Kevin Davies put them two ahead at the break.
However, Stephen Warnock pulled one back after the restart before McCarthy missed from the penalty spot.
However, McCarthy poked home with four minutes remaining to deny the visitors.
