Monty was the only choice. Woosnam has been off the regular tour for a good few years now. It would have been nice for him to have been the captain, since the event is in Wales. However there is no place in sport for sentiment.
I know what people have been saying, but as many of the experts have stated, Woosnam has been off the tour for a number of years, and therefore would be out of touch with the players on the current tour. It's just not a viable thing to have him as captain.
Monty deserves his chance. He's been an exceptional Ryder Cup player, even if he hasn't been able to do it in the Major.
Well yeah and I find it comical that in an interview he is already giving reasoning for not picking Faldo, he wont pick Faldo because he didn't pick him.

Faldo hasn't been in a Ryder Cup for years now. He's far and beyond past his time, and would not make anyone's team. I'm sure Monty was joking to a degree about his reasoning to not pick him is all.
Whereas Monty at least had a chance of making that side as a pick, just for the experience factor, as well as still playing some reasonable golf from time to time. It was still the right decision not to pick him by Faldo though. Darren Clarke on the other hand, that's a different story.
Anyways, Olazabal was the only other man I could have seen captaining the side, and I guess as he's a bit younger they decided to wait till the next time for him. Monty would have been on the verge of being too old to captain the side in Scotland.

So let's pick an out of form, aging player just because he has a track record at the Ryder Cup, no matter how poorly he's playing at the present time?
Let's compare that to the World Cup shall we? It's like saying to bring eh...Sol Campbell to the 2010 World Cup as he's done well in them before. That's a pretty piss poor example as Campbell isn't awfully far even still from being one of the best 4 English centre-backs, but you get what I'm saying I'm sure.
Poulter and Clarke would have been the correct picks I feel.
