Manchester United cemented their place at the top of the Premier League table by thrashing West Bromwich Albion.

Dimitar Berbatov's angled finish put them ahead after 22 minutes, with Albion's Paul Robinson sent off before half-time for fouling Ji-Sung Park.

Carlos Tevez scored seconds before the interval after Scott Carson dropped Ryan Giggs' free-kick, and Nemanja Vidic headed home a third on the hour.

Cristiano Ronaldo then struck twice in eight minutes to seal United's win.

Emile Heskey scored on his debut as Aston Villa moved up to third in the Premier League table and heaped the pressure on Portsmouth boss Tony Adams.

Heskey smashed the ball home with a first time right-foot strike after Gabriel Agbonlahor's flick-on.

Agbonlahor was later played through on goal but failed to hit the target.

Hayden Mullins narrowly shot over for Pompey, while Peter Crouch missed the target from six yards and Nadir Belhadj saw red after a second booking.

A superb three-goal first-half display earned Tottenham a deserved win over fellow relegation strugglers Stoke.

Aaron Lennon opened the scoring in the eighth minute from 12 yards before Jermain Defoe doubled the lead on 21 minutes after a fine passing move.

Michael Dawson added the third four minutes later when he headed in Luka Modric's left-footed cross.

Stoke clawed a goal back on 56 minutes when James Beattie beat Carlo Cudicini with a well-struck shot from 12 yards.

Kenwyne Jones celebrated signing a new contract with Sunderland by grabbing the winner in a hard-fought victory over a Fulham side still to win away.

Jones was on hand to fire home after Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer had parried Djibril Cisse's curling shot.

Cisse should have scored himself in the first half but his follow-up shot to a Schwarzer parry from Jones was blocked.

Simon Davies had Fulham's best chance but could only chip over from 5 yards out following a Clint Dempsey nod-down.
How are we supposed to respect referees with refs like Styles?

To be fair you didn't see the incident. Neither did I because my stream died for those few minutes (lol this sounds like a Ferguson excuse) but the commentators were saying Styles didn't get a decision wrong all night. You are definitely only saying that because it is United.

Anyway, good performance, good to see a few goals go in, GREAT to see Ronaldo get a brace and we have beaten Chelsea's record. All in all a good night.

I am saying it because it's United? I said you would have won anyway so I don't see what difference it makes, it's just that Styles is a joke of a referee and always has been.
