Denmark international midfielder Thomas Gravesen has retired from football at the age of 32.
Gravesen, renowned for his combative style, played for Hamburg, Everton, Real Madrid and Celtic during a career spanning more than 13 years.
"I have spent some extraordinary years abroad, I have played and lived in four countries," said the Dane.
"But I'm 33 in March, so before age and health force my hand I have opted to take the decision to stop myself."
Gravesen parted company with Celtic in August 2008, having failed to establish himself in the first team after signing from Real Madrid for £2m in 2006.
Here is to saluting a fantastic career playing for some fantastic teams.... even if he did play for THEM.

He was a headless chicken at Celtic, Ran about mad at times and had no positional sense at all. Was a shadow of his former self that we seen at Everton. Wouldn't get games was in the Reserves and when Celtic let him go for free to the likes of Stoke, he still wouldn't agree terms and just waited to Celtic paid him something like 1 million to get him out of his contract because he was on 40,000 a week. I'm afraid my views on Graveson are tarnished due to his money grabbing antics at Celtic.
His career was over and it's the clubs fault for offering someone that old that much money, he didn't do anything anyone wouldn't do tbh, if he was in the middle of his career and pulled that move fine, but at 31-32?

Someone who has world cup, premiership, la liga and played for one of the biggest clubs in the world was never going to settle for that, and Strach obviously thought he would be getting the player we saw in glimpses at Madrid and who was one of the driving force behind Evertons 4th place finish.
