Skysports.com understands Lyon striker Fred has flown to London to hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a potential move.
Press reports on Tuesday suggested Spurs are lining up a loan move for the Brazilian forward, who is unsettled in Ligue 1.
Fred's current contract is due to expire in the summer, and he has been linked with a return to his homeland while Stoke City have been mooted as an interested party.
However, it is understood that Spurs are to open discussions with the 25-year-old and his advisor with a view to landing him this transfer window.
I always enjoy watching this player when it comes to Europe and he is good player, not excellent but he is still young and this is just another case of can he hack it in the Premiership?
