Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted to lodging a bid for Sunderland striker Kenwyne Jones.
Spurs have made no secret of their desire to bolster their attacking unit during the January transfer window, having already secured Jermain Defoe's arrival from Portsmouth.
They have been heavily linked with Jones for some time and it comes as no surprise that they have made a move.
Redknapp, though, insists he remains in the dark as to the progress of the bid, admitting a deal for the Trinidad & Tobago international is far from a foregone conclusion.
"We have made an enquiry for Jones," he confirmed.
"I have no idea how far the chairman has got with it or even whether Sunderland want to do a deal."
Now I understand that this is just a bid but this raises questions for me to if Harry trulely knows what to do in this job.
Pavlyuchenko, Defoe and Bent.
Okay the rumours are that Bent will be going in the opposite direction, but should that be the case I think Sunderland are getting the better deal.

I was talking to Mikk about this in the SB, and I agree that Sunderland would definitely be getting the better deal if this is true. Darren Bent may be somewhat out of form, but he has proved that he can score goals in the Premiership and is a victim of Redknapp's selection policy more than anything.
I heard £6m and Bent, which would be a hell of a deal for Sunderland to pull off despite Jones' success at the club and his promising partnership with Cisse.

I don't see anything that Cisse could do with Jones than he couldn't with a better player by his side. Seriously I just don't think Harry can hack it anywhere other than Pompey where he had HIS team.

Well I don't know if Bent is better than Jones, but they are certainly on a par at the very least, and then there is the small matter of £6m...

Give it till the summer and he'll then have his team of championship players To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
As for this move, its a tough one, on one had i really like Jones, was the leading assistor last season and he's already scored the same amount as he did last season.
Bent wouldn't be a bad addition and if he can connect with Cisse the way Jones has been then it would be very good for us.
Going to be interesting to see how it pans out.

Striker Kenwyne Jones has ended speculation over his future by signing a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Sunderland.
The 24-year-old Trinidad and Tobago star had recently been heavily linked to Tottenham.
"I'm absolutely delighted that Kenwyne has committed to the club for the long term," Black Cats manager Ricky Sbragia told the club website.
"He's young, with a great future and has already proved to be a key player."
<!-- E SF --> Sbragia added: The fact that we've had interest from top clubs shows how much of an asset he is and it's fantastic that he will be a Sunderland player for many years to come."
Excellent news, glad he is staying as he's just hopefully going to get better and better.
