BBC Grandstand To Be Phased Out by 2008.

Flagship sports show Grandstand is to be phased out as part of the BBC's strategy to survive in the digital age.
The programme has been on air for 48 years - since October 1958 - but will be screened for the final time in 2008.

How dare they! Grandstand is one of the very few things i get up for on a weekend and its a shame that they are phasing it out.

Granstand in my eyes has lost a lot of value in the last few years. I read the article on bbc.co.uk and what their saying is quite true. People no longer wait untill saturday afternoon to look at the weeks round up of sport. They want the action instantaniously, and their not going to wait untill the weekend.

At the end of the day not much will change, you'll still have football focus and score on since they arent really grandstand, and they'll put something like "The Horse Racing Show", or "Between the Posts" (rugby) on in the middle.

Three words for you Sky Sports News. It's free and it gives you everything. As for the red button choose your sport thing. What a decision hmmm rowing curling second tier motorbikes or rice pudding throwing. BBC just can't afford to compete with Sky for sports so it just gets cast-offs.
