Gears is a third person shooter... It just gives you the ability to aim... Not like it is used online...
And Resident Evil isn't a FPS either...
I would have to say GoldenEye 007. That game was pure classic and fun.

I know Res Evil 4 wasnt a traditonal FPS, but it sure as hell wasnt 3rd person. The view was some kinf of hybrid over the shoulder look, making me lean towards putting it into the FPS class.
And Goldeneye def rocked. THe original Perfect Dark was bad ass too. Metroid Prime was great as well.

Resident Evil is third person. If it is not seen from the shooters eyes, then it is not first person. If it is seen from a different point of view, whether it be from behind, from a balcony, over the shoulder or from North Carolina, it is a third person shooter.
