Rep Power: 61 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() gXboxLive Leaderboard: 17th | Tom Cruise is a Jackass Tom Cruise told Viacom, parent company of Paramount and Comedy Central that he would refuse to promote Mission Impossible 3 if the controversial and hilarious South Park episode which attacks Scientology and hints that he is gay, was not cancelled Wednesday. Cruise apparently won. The episode was cancelled per Tom's demands. Viacom, which is banking on MI3 to be a summer blockbuster, told South Park series creators, Matt Stone and Trey Parker, not to discuss this matter to avoid embarrassing Cruise as they did Isaac Hayes last week when the actor, also a Scientologist, quit his role as the voice of "Chef". Hayes claimed that "bigotry and intolerance toward religious beliefs" led to his decision, but Stone pointed out that "Hayes had cashed plenty of checks while the show made fun of Christianity, Judaism and Islam." Tom Cruise has a well known history of being a Hollywood bully. Why a major corporation has to get on all fours for an actor is something I will never understand, especially one as deranged as Tom Cruise. The millions of dollars he makes allows him the visibility and supposed clout to lash out at anyone and anything who questions his ridiculous cult. If his name was David Koresh, I'd already be stocking up on marshmallows.

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | Tom Cruise has said that the demands aren't true. Comedy Central wasn't allowed to air the episode a few weeks ago either. It's all because Paramount is afraid of being sued by the "Church" of Scientology(who are infamous for suing ANYONE who says something bad about them thanks to the lawyers they can afford). I actually sent the Scientology website an e-mail telling them what a bullshit cult they are and daring them to sue me. I am now totally against Scientology. Finally, Chef hasn't been featured much on South Park in the last few seasons so it isn't that big of a deal and they can replace Isaac Hayes. I'm looking foward to an episode slamming him. |

I just find Scientology is such a strange religion. It seems more of lifestyle than actual religion. I'm not educated enough, but do they believe in a god?

Rep Power: 6 ![]() | I looked but I couldn't find anything about belief in a god/gods. I do know they think that L. Ron Hubbard(a sci-fi writer & founder of the Scientology cult) is more importent than Jesus. |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() | All religions are pretty zealous at the start. That's not a defense but look at Christianity. I'd also say that it's not a money issue with COS (Church of Scientology, not Satan) because the Catholic Church has an insane amount of money but they rarely bring up lawsuits with anyone. The fault, if you can call it one (I can though, so I will), is with the way the church is designed itself. It's mysterious to evoke a response in people and to get them interested. With this unfortuantely comes a lot of misguided information about what's going on. Who the hell really knows what the religion is truely about. Just because we've all read some scary shit on the Internet doesn't mean we know (or even don't) what's going on. Furthermore, a part of their religion seems to be founded on the notion of attack. It is like a cult in this way. Whenever they are attacked, they come back with lawsuits. Again, I'd agrue that most religions minus a few Eastern ones are like this in their genesis. |
