Enjoy a Twilight free life while you can. It won’t be gone for long. The sequel New Moon was greenlit on opening weekend and now it has a start date.
JoBlo caught star Kristen Stewart on the radio with Ryan Seacrest (no I don’t know why they’d be listening to Ryan Seacrest, but I assume they’re properly ashamed) where she told him they start shooting Twilight 2 in March of 2009. Their goal is to have another prepped for an end of the year release next year, and with more books to go that probably means Twilight is going to be come something of a November tradition. Oh goody.
Maybe we’ll get lucky and the whole thing will die out after the second film. The diminishing returns on the first one seem to indicate that could be a possibility. Sure it had a huge opening weekend, but in the movie’s second week box office receipts dropped sharply. That may have simply been the Thanksgiving holidays talking, but I’ll sleep better by assuming people saw it, realized it sucked, and told their friends to stay the hell away from it. Of course they went to see Four Christmases instead, which may actually be even worse.
Twilight got mixed reviews, but I guess they are just trying to capitalize quickly.
