Comedian Bill Bailey will be replaced by a series of guest captains when comedy quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks returns to BBC Two on 2 October.
Bailey is bowing out after "11 series selflessly, heroically and hilariously" leading one of the show's two teams, said its producer Talkback Thames.
Music producer Mark Ronson, X Factor host Dermot O'Leary and comic Jack Dee will be among those filling his shoes.
Host Simon Amstell and team captain Phill Jupitus will appear as normal.
Never Mind the Buzzcocks first aired on the BBC in 1996, with Mark Lamarr asking the questions and Jupitus and Sean Hughes answering them. 'Other commitments'
Bailey, an accomplished musician who is leaving the show due to unspecified "other commitments", took over from Hughes in 2002.
The comedy panel show made headlines last year when Ordinary Boys singer Samuel Preston walked out during recording.
The performer - who had taken exception to Amstell reading from an autobiography written by his then partner, Big Brother's Chantelle Houghton - was replaced by a member of the studio audience.
Great shame.
Don't like Ronson or O'Leary as his replacements, Jack Dee should be ok.
Shows never really been the same since Hughes left and then Lamarr as Amstell is a little fecker in my opinion To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.

Damn, that sucks. Dee could be a good replacement though I don't know if he's that knowledgable of the music world, atleast he;s funny unlike O'Leary or Ronson.

It's taken me a long while to get used to Amstell as host and the show hasn't really been the same since. Bailey was an awesome replacement for hughes and the show may just go downhill from here on

I really like Bill Bailey, so that's a real shame, but I seem to be in the minority that like Amstell. The last two series of Lamarr, you could really tell he was just sick of it, and didn't give a crack. I think Simon Amstell gave it a good ol' shot in the arm.

Bailey's schtick has gotten old with me. They should give his seat to Dylan Moran. His knowledge of music is probably very limited, but the guys funnier than everyone. To view links or images in this forum your post count must be 20 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
Oh yeah, and Amstell is waaaaaaaay better that Lamarr. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just homophobic. Hahaha!!!
*wonders if people here are used to my sense of humour enough yet to realise that he's joking, but wants to be clear that Amstell rules*

Much as I like Bailey & Jupitus, both in a cumdgeonly uncle way, both should not be on a show like this anymore if it want's to move forward.
Amstell is okay, not anywhere near as great as some of his fans seem to think he is, but he's okay.
Neither Ronson or O'Leary excite me at all.
Anyone from Mark Watson, James Corden, Dougie Anderson, Stewart Lee, Lee Mack, Colin Murray, Will Buckley, ....and many more......would do a much better job.
