RIP Chris Penn

Actor Chris Penn, brother of Sean Penn, was found dead Tuesday at a condominium near the beach in Santa Monica, reports the Associated Press.

Police said they discovered the 43-year-old actor's body around 4 p.m. Lt. Frank Fabrega said there were no obvious signs of foul play.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death, authorities said.

Chris Penn's credits included Mulholland Falls, Rumble Fish, All the Right Moves, Footloose and Rush Hour. He also played Nice Guy Eddie Cabot in the 1992 Quentin Tarantino crime drama Reservoir Dogs.

Chris' latest film, The Darwin Awards, was scheduled to premiere Wednesday at the Sundance Film Festival.

I imagine this will turn out to be an overdose. My thoughts go out to his family.

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com)- An autopsy performed Wednesday (Jan. 25) on Chris Penn revealed no sign of foul play, though the Los Angeles county coroner remains unable to say with certainty what caused the actor's death.

According to media reports, the medical examiners were able to link Penn's death to prior illness and a prior history of drug abuse. Without elaborating on either the illness or drug use in question, a spokesman for the coroner said that Penn's death may have been an accident or the result of natural causes stemming from those factors.

The exact cause of death won't be known until the results of toxicology tests become available in roughly six weeks.
