Re: What should i watch now?

Heroes is a good show. And Hayden Panettiere is sooooooo cute

The Wire is a great show, but if you decide to check it out, a few words of warning:

First, it's a very slow-moving show. Each season focuses basically on one case, and they show you in extreme detail how the cases
are built. It's not the typical cop show where you meet the "bad guy" and within one hour the case is solved. Watching the show requires patience and a willingness to sit through the minutiae before the eventual payoff.

Secondly, the "payoffs" at the end of each episode/season are not the happy endings you're used to seeing on TV shows. The producers prided themselves on making the shows as realistic as possible, so very often good people get fucked in the end and bad people get rewarded. It can often be quite depressing. Each episode/season is not neatly wrapped up in a bow.

Lastly, in an effort to make the show realistic, the characters use authentic Baltimore slang. The drug dealers use authentic street slang, and the cops use genuine "cop talk". The characters often use phrases that you won't recognize, and won't understand the first few times you hear them.

Basically, the point I'm trying to make is that it's not an "easy" show to watch. It requires an investment of time and emotion. But if you keep watching, you'll get so entwined in the characters (I dont think I've EVER seen a show with better character development) that you'll just HAVE to see what happens to them.
