There's two islands. The main one where the Losties originally crashed on. Then the smaller one where the new Losties (Crash 2.0) are at.
Didn't flight 316 crash at the main island also? I thought Sun and the new pilot went to the other island, because they ended up in Ben's old house. Or, was Ben's house on the main island already? /confused

Re: Lost - Season 5 Discussion (Every Wednesday 9pm EST)
Miles can and has talked to the dead. Remember in Cali when he talked to the dead drug dealer in his grandmothers house. The dealer told him where to find the money and Miles told the deal he could go now.
Also, Jimmy, I thought it was that people shouldnt change the past. The past is the past, but Sayid Jarrah was in the past and clearly killed Ben. I suppose the island reversed the decision???
DD, I am caught up but I am still extremely confused about the others. For example, the whispers. I know they arent from the others as the others are human so does that mean the smoke monster is the cause of the whispers? After all, the monster was replaying Bens past to him during the judgement.
Sayid is now my only favorite all time character. I still dont have a full grasp on Ben yet.

Flight 316 landed on the Smaller Island where Sawyer and Kate were held in Season 3 when they were bunking with the Hostiles.
What might be more confusing is that Jack,Kate,Sayid and Hurley landed in 1973 on the Main Island. where Ben,Frank, Sun and the newbies landed on the smaller Island in 2009.

I think thats because of the reason why they decided to go back. For example, Sun went back for Jin, Ben went back to be judged. Jack, Kate and Sayid went back because for no real reason except they had to. Frank is the question mark.

As we found out, Ben was never killed. What happened to Ben always happened. If it wasn't for Sawyer and Kate, Ben wouldn't have led the others into the Purge in killing all of the Dharma folk. It was Sayid's gunshot that forced those events to occur.

The main island contains:
Where the Oceanic 815 plane crashed
Danielle Rousseau lived in hiding
The Others were in the forest before the purge
The Dharma village (Future Others village)
Where Hurley, Jack, Kate and Sayid ended up after the second plane crash
Where Locke, Sun, Ben and Frank ended up after going in the canoes
The smaller island contains:
The super Others area
The crash of the second plane
The runway that Sawyer was forced into help building in season 3

Frank is pretty easy. Frank was supposed to be the pilot of Oceanic 815. It's also why the original pilot (Dude from Heroes) was killed by Smokey. He wasn't supposed to be there.

Last episode was good, but can somebody please explain all this constant and variable stuff to me, because I can't keep up with it.
Okay, back in the Constant episode (Ep where Desmond went back and forth in time), in order to keep him from dying, he needed a constant (Something that was in both time periods...aka Penny). The idea was that 'Whatever happened, happened' was originally thought by Desmond until he found out that Jack and company somehow came back in time. These were now the variables. Since Jack, Hurley and Kate wasn't supposed to be back in time, history could now change. So like in any scientific experiment, you have a constant (Sawyer and Dharma Losties) that has remained the same throughout time and then you have the variables (Jack and the returning Losties).
To make it nice and simple, the time line of how everything was supposed to happen (Even if we didn't know it like with Sawyer being with the Dharma people), can now be changed forever.
Like with most Lost story lines, I assume everything will make more sense as the episodes keep rolling out.
