"Rush Hour" director Brett Ratner is putting together his very own black "Ocean’s Eleven," a heist film that would feature Chris Tucker, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy at the very least.

Ratner is also said to be talking to Denzel Washington about playing a roguish villain. He also may ask longtime pal Courtney Love to join the cast.

Washington should be interested, since the script for this unnamed project is being written by Russell Gewirtz, who wrote Washington’s hit Spike Lee film "The Inside Man."

The untitled film will be produced and distributed by Universal, which has quickly usurped its smaller indie label Focus Features as the more interesting of the two imprints.

Watch for Ratner to add more heavy hitters once the script is finished. These could include young actors like Derek Luke or Anthony Mackie, comedian Martin Lawrence and some older actors too, like Sidney Poitier or even Bill Cosby.

My question is why does it have to be black? It wasn't as if Oceans 11 set out to be a 'strictly' white film. Cast who will work well for the film, regardless of race. The Courtney Love thing makes no sense at all, but I am for it. I cannot think of any movie that could not benefit from a little more Courtney Love.

The cast looks like it could be funny. I'm concerned that there might be way too much personality though. You need a straight man to play the jokes off of, with that cast, it would seem like everyone was competing.

As of late all black casts are big at the box office. That christmas movie that just came out did good numbers. I think it would be interesting. That Courtney Love thing looks totally thrown in, and totally seems fucked up...

Brett Ratner's track record as a director though is less than flattering lately.

I doubt his directing talents to say the least.

Doubtful I will go to this if it ever makes it pass the planning stages.

That is something I have always wondered and bothered me a lot. You will see movies come out that are all black actors. With maybe like one white person. Idk, and they have BET, and who knows what else. They can do that kinda of stuff all the time but white people cant. IDk i guess its just the way it is.

Are Don Cheadle and Bernie Mac white now?

Last time I checked they were in Oceans 13, 12, 11 etc.

The cast did have black people in it so I don't get making an all African American version.
