The standard sitcom

With the ever-popular dramas and action shows (Prison Break, Heroes, Bionic Woman, etc) that plague the top-10 each week...I wonder: does anyone still enjoy the good ol' 30-minute sitcom anymore?

I'm talking about shows like Two and a Half Men, According to Jim, Scrubs...whatever. One show I look forward to each week is "Til Death". I'm sure I'm alone on that, but I find it funny and entertaining.

With these story-heavy shows nowadays, missing one episode can ruin everything for a viewer. You skip a show and the next week you find you're totally lost. With old shows like "Home Improvement", "Seinfeld", and "Full House", you could go weeks without seeing it, and it wouldn't hurt the entertainment value.

So basically, I want to know how many people out there watch the sitcoms still. And I'm not really talking about reruns, but the new shows.

Sure does. Sometimes I just like watching a simple show.

Yeah I know what you are saying.

If you miss Lost or Heroes, you are totally lost (no pun intended!). But a show like Cavemen that doesn't really have an on-going storyline you can miss several weeks and still know what is going on.

While I do love Lost and Heroes it does get a little tiresome sometimes to keep up with the storylines. It is good just to tune into a show where you don't have to think about it really.

Re: The standard sitcom

I like two and a half men. But I don't watch TV often so I rarely catch it on.

The sitcom died after Seinfeld's conclusion.

I download Family Guy and Cavemen.

Re: The standard sitcom

I still "like" the Simpsons, which is also a sitcom albeit animated. Not as godly as years gone by but still very watchable. Not a new one though.

It's only a couple of years old, but the only newish one I've enjoyed a lot was My Name is Earl.

Re: The standard sitcom

I hear what your saying jayman. I miss the days when the normal sitcom was hot. Now its alla bout reality tv and the 1 hour drama shows.

I watch Caveman, Family Guy, Till Death and carpoolers.

Also, anyone notice that there really isnt any new Family sitcoms anymore. Like Fullhouse and Family Matters. Shows the family can watch about another family that isnt about sex and stuff.

Ohh how the times are changing.
