Death Proof - Grindhouse, Planet Terror: Double Feature

This Quinton Tarantino /Robert Rodriguez double feature of 70's drive in movie trash has each director doing one of the movies.

So far I have only seen the Tarantino's Death Proof and IMO it was 2 incredibly stupid hours of unrealistic car chases and endless dialog that could have been done much better. Just talking to talk has become a Tarantino trademark and this movie is FILLED with mindless babble for effect, that quickly gets boring. The multiple ladies in Death Proof are sloppy, yet attractive, and Kurt Russel as stunt Man Mike is grizzeled and looking older with each movie, but overall it is just plain dumb. It is no wonder these movies bombed so horribly when released at the theaters. Only the hardest hard core Tarintino fans would find this anything by a waste of time. he has done better IMO.

I have the second movie Grindhouse and plan to watch it this weekend also and will post my thoughts after seeing it. But after seeing the first one I do not have high hopes......
I will be 1 on December 25th. That's right, I am going to get screwed on presents!!!!!

I saw this in theatre, but my friend did not inform me that it was like 6 freaking hours.

I liked Planet Terror, Death Proof was pretty terrible though.

I loved Planet Terror. It was hilarious! Rodriguez did such a fine job with this film. The characters were awesome and the battle scenes were funny as hell.

Death Proof was heavy on dialogue. I thought the 1st half of the movie was awesome, the development of the characters but once we hit the 2nd group of ladies I got bored real quick..

I have not seen them, but do want to buy them, but refuse to until they package them and put the fake trailers back in between the movies.

It's total bullshit that they seperated them upon release.

I agree 100%. I thought both were pointless and silly IMO.

Re: Death Proof - Grindhouse, Planet Terror: Double Feature

I loved the entire experience of Grindhouse in theaters--the trailers, Planet Terror, more trailers, Death Proof. It was quite an experience. I've never understood the disdain for Death Proof, considering that everyone knew that this was a Tarantino piece and that Tarantino is always heavy on dialogue (unlike Rodriguez who is heavy on action).

But yeah, definitely give Planet Terror a chance. Great movie and a lot of fun to boot.
When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near. Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the country not enter the city. For this is the time of punishment in fullfillment of all that has been written. How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people. They will fall by the sword and be taken as prisoners to all nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
...At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.
Luke 21:20-28
