The season's first results show features a performance by none other than Dolly Parton, who sings "Better Get to Livin'," from her latest album, and her classic workplace anthem, "9 to 5." The latter title is where the first sacrificial celebrity will find him- or herself after tonight — that is, if any of them had 9-to-5 jobs. It's enough to drive you crazy if you let it. — Joe Friedrich Bionic Woman 9 pm/ET NBC New There's no Oscar Goldman or a million-dollar pooch — and that's not all that's changed in this updated version of the '70s classic. Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan), college dropout and part-time bartender, finds her life — and limbs — upgraded with high-tech, supersecret bionic bits after a near-death experience with a semi. But the car accident that almost killed her was no accident — it was part of an assassination attempt aimed at her boyfriend, who happens to be the lead doctor for the bionics project. Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff guest-stars as — surprise! — the first bionic test subject, and she's unstable and looking for a fight. — Jeanette Martin Private Practice 9 pm/ET ABC New Kate Walsh may have gained a husband in real life, but on Grey's Anatomy her Addison character washed those McMen out of her hair and decamped for this spin-off set at a posh L.A. wellness center. There she'll join forces with her med-school friend Naomi (Audra McDonald) and assorted other docs, including a cute alternative-medicine guy (Tim Daly) with whom she might or might not connect. As for their medical cases, Grey's fans shouldn't be surprised. Incidentally, McDonald takes over the Naomi role from Merrin Dungey, who played her in the May Grey's episode that introduced the characters. — Paul Droesch Life 10 pm/ET NBC New "You don't have to understand here to be here." Sure, it's not your average detective-speak, but then Det. Charlie Crews (Damian Lewis) is not your average cop. After being wrongly imprisoned for 12 years, he returns to the force, only this time with a multimillion-dollar settlement and a Zen-like perspective. His new partner (Sarah Shahi) is left to sort through his philosophical rants while also keeping a tight leash on the detective, who connects with criminals on a more personal level than most officers. Oh, and there's one more piece to the puzzle: Who exactly set up Crews for murder? — Brie Hearn Dirty Sexy Money 10:01 pm/ET ABC New In the überwealthy Darling family of this new drama, creator Craig Wright has found a conduit by which to explore our celebrity-gossip-laden zeitgeist. And just like the American public is both repulsed and drawn to the trials and tribulations of the superrich, so is Nick George, the young lawyer who takes over as the clan's counsel after his father's death. Peter Krause of Six Feet Under fame plays George with his patented brand of conflicted everyman, while Donald Sutherland turns in a pitch-perfect performance as the conniving Darling patriarch. — Anthony Layser America's Next Top Model 8 pm/ET CW New In last week's season premiere, 33 model wannabes were trimmed to the final 13 contestants. Tonight the beautiful baker's dozen move into an environmentally friendly Los Angeles mansion. It doesn't take long before a feud erupts between Bianca and Lisa and for self-proclaimed "awkward" Heather to feel out of place. The women try to light up the scene of their first photo shoot by posing for pictures that show the negative effects of smoking. — Tim Holland | |
