Chris Angel - Mindfreak.

Does anyone here watch this show?

I just recently saw two episodes and I have to admit, I am very impressed. I have always been fascinated with magic and I really dig how Chris makes it kinda heavy metal twist to it.

He actually seems like a really cool dude too. I thought he would be all corny and whatnot like David Blane is.

They dont have like a magic rivalry do they?

Well, I recommend this half hour show to anyone that feels like DVR'ing something new.

Re: Chris Angel - Mindfreak.

I watch this anytime I happen to catch it on. I have no clue as to it's actual schedule, but I love the show. I've done some homework on how he manages to create these illusions, but of course, if you youtube some of the techniques, they never appear to be anything like the way he does it.

The episode where he pulls the legs from that chick and she's just a torso, head, arms, and hands.... (which once he pulls her legs off, she hops down and starts running off using her arms only....) That was the craziest thing I've ever seen.

He had Carrot Top on one where he (Carrot Top) hid behind a blind that was sectioned into three parts. His job was to drive a motorcycle through the section where he thought Carrot top wasn't. Of course, he missed him, then it was down to two sections, and again, full speed ahead, he missed Carrot Top. (BTW, Carrot Top is a complete freak)

Then of course his illusion of flying, from building to building, and also levitating people in general.

The thing that gets me, I can't help but think everything is staged... I mean, of course it is to some extent, but even the audience. On television, it's simple enough to edit out parts, and splice others in... and the audience could always be paid... But, I still love the show.

Yes he showed how the fire one is done. When he lifts the blanket up someone slips in underneath and they trade spots in the crowd. I think it was on CSI:NY when he revealed this as another magician character. It's a tricky illusion as the timing has to be perfect.

I watch this show when I can; saw it last week where he was tossed naked into a jail from the early turn of the century and had to escape before a crowd of women rushed in ready to take his picture. He basically walked the audience through step by step how Houdini and other early magicians did the same escape tricks.

One of the things I found interesting was he said that one of Houdini's greatest escape secret was that his wife used to keep the key to his chains in her mouth and pass it to him through a kiss before each escape.

Angel is the best illusionist working on main stream TV today, imo.
